FlipControlCenter: Customise Your iOS 7 Control Center

iOS 7 shipped with an entirely redesigned interface and a few handy features that made our precious more user-friendly. One of these features is called Control Center, a shortcut tool that gives access to a few toggles and settings and is accessible from any app or the lock screen.

One major downside though, is that Apple restricts what toggles are provided and gives no options for customizing it. That was before the iOS 7 jailbreak was available though. Ryan Petrich, a very well-known developer has teased us with a new tweak for a few weeks now. The tweak will allow users to change, add and re-position their Control Center toggles to their hearts desire.

You’ll be able to download FlipControlCenter beta from Cydia for free, but be careful. It’s called beta for a reason. For time being the users will be able to choose from 16 different toggles to display in the top row of Control Center. Obviously 16 buttons is a bit much to be displayed in a single page, so you have the option of displaying 2,3,4 or 5 buttons per page. You’ll can scroll through the pages by just swiping to right or left.

In addition to your default 5 toggles you’ll receive the following options:

  • Settings
  • Respring
  • Auto Lock
  • VPN
  • Vibration
  • Hotspot
  • Location Services
  • Flashlight
  • 3G
  • Ringer

Follow the steps below to get FlipControlCenter up and running on your iOS 7 device.

  • Before you start, you need to jailbreak your iPhone. Tutorial here
  • Launch Cydia
  • Tap on the Manage tab at the bottom.
  • Then tap on Sources.
  • Tap on the Edit button at the top right corner and then tap the Add button.
  • Enter the following URL – http://rpetri.ch/repo/ and tap on Add Source button.
  • Next Search for FlipControlCenter by tapping on the Search tab.
  • Tap on FlipControlCenter from the search results
  • Tap on the Install button in the top right corner
  • Then Tap on the Confirm button to install the jailbreak tweak
  • Tap on the Restart SpringBoard button when prompted
  • You’re in business

This is obviously early days for the tweak, and I’m sure it’ll get better and more feature packed as time goes on. I’d still like the ability to customise the lower row of Control Center to make it more useful.
