How To Download Youtube Videos on iPhone Without Jailbreak

There are more videos on YouTube than you can watch in your lifetime, and with more videos being added every second there is no shortage of content to keep us entertained. Although there’s an official iPhone app that allows you watch videos and interact with other users/creators, you might find yourself struggling to download those video for offline viewing. Downloading the videos might be useful specially if you have a limited data plan or simply want a convenient, fast way to watch cute kitten videos.

After Apple and Google broke up and Google Maps was removed from iOS, YouTube downloading apps were briefly allowed on the App Store. These apps allowed users to watch and download YouTube videos for offline viewing or simply saving on the data cap. The fun didn’t last long though, Shortly after Apple started cracking down on these apps and forced them to remove the downloading functionalities. Today we’re going to tech you how to download YouTube videos to your iPhone without Jailbreaking your device.

Step 1: Setup Your iPhone

Jump over to the App Store and get yourself a download manager. For the purposes of this tutorial I’ll be using My Media Download Manager, which is a free download from the App Store. My Media DM offers a wide range of functionalities, but most importantly allows background downloads and resumable downloads. This means you can start the file download and exit the app without interrupting the download. If the download is interrupted, you’ll be able to resume from where it stopped, given the download server supports this functionality.

Step 2: Find YouTube Downloader Website

You’re then going to want to find yourself a YouTube downloading service on the web. Luckily enough, there is no shortage of YouTube downloaders on the web, but most of them require java to prepare your download link. You want to make sure the service you decide to use, works independent from java. I personally prefer because it allows selecting the file format and quality that you’d like to download. There are other services similar to Keepvid and you can find a full list here.

Step 3: Download Away!

  1. Open up My Media Download Manager from your home screen.
  2. Then go to from the address bar at the top.
  3. Paste the YouTube url in the textfield provided and click “Download”
  4. When you click “Download”, it’ll take a few seconds to process your request.
  5. If everything goes as planned you’ll see your download links on the page.
  6. Tap and hold on the video link you wish to download and click “Download File” from pop up menu
  7. Put in the file name and click save.

Congratulations. You can now view the downloaded file even when you’re offline. Happy downloading
